BASS staat voor The BHARATH ABHYUDAYA SEVA SAMITHI, ofwel The Indian Progressive Service Society.

President van deze NGO is Peter Paul Chukka.

In 2002 leerde Reinhilde deze organisatie kennen via internet. Er ontstond een druk e-mailverkeer, en in september 2003 bezocht zij hen voor het eerst.

BASS is een geregistreerde liefdadigheidsorganisatie , een NGO, opgericht in 1978 door een aantal personen die zich wilden inzetten tegen de sociale ongelijkheid, en voor verbetering van de omstandigheden van de laagste klasse.

Hun duidelijkheid betreffende de vreselijke omstandigheden en toekomstloze situatie van wezen en verlaten kinderen uit deze laagste klasse, de 'onaantastbaren', heeft ons ertoe aangezet om samen met hen de bouw van het weeshuis MAMARE te realiseren.

BASS is voor IKO in India de officiële en legale vertegenwoordiger omdat de Indische regering dat nu eenmaal voorschrijft.

Manager

My name is Chukka Joseph Anthony and I am 45 years old.

I finished my studies in English and Sociology post graduate. I obtained an additional degree in community based development in St.-Francis, Xavier university in Canada.

I am married and blessed with two children, a boy and a girl.

I dedicated my life to serve children and neglected communities via Indian charity BASS.

In 2002 I met Reinhilde Vanvelk through internet. She was seeking support and cooperation to establish a children's home in India. After a lot of communication and many visits to India, IKO was founded in 2005 and in 2006, Mamare opened the doors for the first orphans.

I am appointed as manager of Mamare and together with Reinhilde, Maaike and Martine, we are working successfully together for the welfare of the children.

Suvathamma

Cook

My name is Prathipati Suvathamma and I am 50 years old. My home is in a nearby local village called 'Unnava'. I am a widow and I am blessed with 3 children and grandchildren.

I used to work as an agricultural contractor in my village but fortunately I had the opportunity to work at Mamare as a cook since 2015. I am responsible for breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner for all the Mamare girls and the Mamare staff members.

I am very happy to be a member of the Mamare family

Nagendramma

Cleaning assistant

My name is Rajupalem Nagendramma and I am 45 years old.

I am 'cleaning assistant' in Mamare since 2018. My husband, Zachariah, is working as 'watchman' in Mamare as well. We both live at Mamare.

We have two children, a boy and a girl. Both are married and blessed with children. I am responsible for doing the dishes, sweeping floors, cleaning rooms and taking care of the Mamare campus. Actually I stand for order and cleanness in Mamare.

I am very happy to be a member of the Mamare family and I love to be with the girls.

Zachariah

Watchman

My name is Zachariah Rajupalem and I am 52 years old. I am married to Nagendramma and we both live at Mamare. My two children are married and I am blessed with grandchildren.

I used to work as an agricultural contractor in my village. I am working in Mamare as a watchman since 2018. My responsabilities are watching the campus, opening and closing the gates, switching of and on the lights, maintaining our borewell, cleaning the drainage inside and outside our campus, delivery of milk, helping in the garden.

I am very happy to be at Mamare.

Kavitha

Caretaker

My name is Kavitha Nuthakki and I am 34 years old. I am divorced and a proud mother of two boys. I graduated in arts (ba).

I joined the Mamare family in 2013. I am caretaker and my main responsibility is to guide our girls in their lives.

Of course I have many more jobs to to like waking up the girls in the morning, sending them to school, playing with the girls, helping them with their homework, helping our cook with serving the food and if needed replace our cook or cleaning assistant when they are on a leave. Actually I am always available for the girls if they need me.
